Before it is too late.

If you are going to panic then it pays to panic first as prices for electric radiators will rise if there are shortages.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/energy/9947340/Gas-is-running-low-as-chill-continues.html

Quote:
The coldest March in decades is putting a strain on the supply of stored gas, according to a fresh analysis that predicts reserves could be depleted as soon as April 8.

With the Met Office forecasting that the cold weather will stretch into April, analysts said that Britain may be forced to reduce gas supplies to big business customers. The analysis of supplies also heightens concerns over how Britain will meet its future energy needs.

Those fears were added to yesterday when SSE, one of the largest electricity suppliers, said the Government was badly underestimating the risk of a power shortage in coming years.

Of course given that a lot of our electricity if generated by gas it is far from certain if you will have electricity either..

Some other background with equally worrying news.

CIBSE Annual Lecture 2012: How secure is Great Britain’s electricity and gas supply over the next decade?

And the latest wheeze dreamt up by Government an energy allowance per individual.

Of course none of this is new some said we would be getting into this hole a few years ago.

Clearly, the electrification of the railways is going to be a big help with reducing the demand for gas-generated electricity supplies; as are electric cars and bicycles. The joined-up thinking of the moronic political class is mind-blowing in its crass stupidity.

As for TEQs (Tradable Energy Quotas); they should dramatically ramp up the death rate in our homes AND the hospitals. And bring what remains of the UK economy to a grinding halt.

This developing disaster has been well known, and well understood for years, by ALL the political jokers of the LibLabConTrick. This 'national emergency' could have been so easily avoided by proper political planning over the last three decades or so. But the interests of this nation and its people do not count for very much in the minds of the political elite.

The message of a national energy crisis of catastrophic proportions has been well publicised for some decades – just like the economic bust was predicted - and we continued to vote for the political traitors of the LibLabCon variety. And we shall do so again in the local elections in May this year.

So; a big Well Done! to the treacherous political elite of the LibLabConTrick, where-ever you are.

Perhaps soon, when the lights do go out, the home heating goes off, and private companies throw their entire workforce out on the streets, that the Corrie Street-Neighbours-EastEnders, and endless panel game sleep-induced watchers will wakeup to what is really being done to us by their favourite and habitually voted for political parties.

The story below shows just how fragile our energy supplies are – a 'failed' pump is all it takes to trigger a possible national emergency.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/news ... -down.html

Quote:
Interconnector, which runs the gas pipeline between the UK and Belgium, said a technical problem related to a water/glycol pump at its Bacton gas terminal had forced the shutdown.
Gas prices for same-day delivery jumped to 150p per therm, more than 50pc above Thursday's closing price and the highest level seen since March 2006. Week-ahead gas surged as much as 37pc to 135p a therm, also a seven-year high.
The Interconnector is one of Britain's main gas import pipelines. This week, it set a new record, exporting 783 gigawatt-hours of gas from Belgium to Britain.
Weeks of cold weather have left national gas supplies at critically low levels, prompting fears of a new wave of engery bill increases.
If the pipeline remains shut for a number of days, Britain's grid operator could be forced to trigger emergency supply options, including reducing demand from contracted users.

The next war in Europe I fear will be about energy, in the Middle East (between themselves) it will be about water.

It's all to easy to forget that it is only 1 short generation since this continent suffered the worst war the World had ever seen.

The Cyprus issue this week has demonstrated how two faced the EU can be in their attempts to rail-road Cyprus into snatching money from citizens bank accounts.

Although they seem to have backtracked on that a way they still intend to raid large depositors accounts mainly because the think a lot of 'funny' Russian money resides in them and that Cyprus is overstepping the mark in offering far to generous banking terms at the expense of other central Banks.

What Merkel seems to forget though is that Germany (and us to an extent) buys gas from Gazprom which is shipped via pipeline and keep Germans warm in the Winter. Putin has a history of restricting supply to this gas when things are not going his way.

The latest round of joined-up thinking from our political whiz-kids announced in this weeks 'budget', involves unrestricted building of limitless new homes (all requiring electricity and gas supplies) and with taxpayer-backed guarantees for another round of sub-prime mortgages. To add this insanity, the political genii have agreed to let in undefined millions of more EU immigrants into the UK next year, all of whom will require housing and access to energy supplies.

I'm beginning to realise why politics is such an attractive career path these days - you don't need to be very bright to stand out in the crowd of dummies that occupy the space.

If we run out of energy there is going to be a massive fallout and it will play right into labours hands.

Isn't it time we stood up to Europe and opened up our coal fired generators to avoid this catastrophe?

They've shown recently that they don't want us to leave so we have some leeway.

I have a lot of sympathy with your point of view, Kremmen. Unfortunately, if there was any risk of standing up to the EU by our political whiz-kids, they would have done it about 4 decades ago, before the obvious crisis had fully developed. I now fear it is far too late to rescue us from the inevitable. We have been rightly stitched-up by the political traitors and their Common Purpose banking fiends.

There is far too much powerful money involved in promoting the Myth of global warming to establish any meaningful change..

The global warming debate is the same as with nuclear power, and in general the energy industry including oil and gas.

There are far too many powerful lobbyists and far too much money involved by very powerful players to allow for a fair assessment.

Almost every independent study which provides the truth about the subject is either squashed at inception or undermined by a campaign of dis-information, muck raking, and legal threat.

When you have minsters at the Dept of Energy who are one step away from being in bed with those who provide wind turbines you can already see you are wee-ing into the wind.

The same is true for doing away with coal which we still have plenty of supplies for under the midlands and north of England.

Vested interests hold the levers of power same as the bankers, (Barclays gave £38 million in bonuses the other day to 11 executives whilst paying the lowest interest rates on savings ever) until such time as the electorate wake up and start swinging some of them from Lamposts it will always be so.

This should help in times of depleting gas-fired electricity generation supplies:

More electricity generating capacity lost in the short term.

http://www.timesandstar.co.uk/snow-forces-controlled-shut-down-at-cumbria-s-sellafield-site-1.1044363?referrerPath=home

Quote:
In response to the current and predicted adverse weather conditions on and round the Sellafield site, as a precaution, a Site Incident has been declared and the plants have been moved safely to a controlled, shut down state.

The site emergency control centre has been established and is managing the incident in line with well rehearsed procedures.

We have implemented a phased, early release of staff from the site; this is being carried out in a safe, controlled manner.

Either that or we are being led up a garden path..
