From today's Daily Mail: Libs, Labs, and Hacked Off are working together to gag the press.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... press.htmlQuote:
Labour and the Lib Dems are now expected to table amendments in the Commons giving MPs the choice of a beefed-up version of Tory proposals for a Royal Charter, backed in law, or a full Bill implementing the recommendations of Lord Justice Leveson’s report. Mr Cameron lost patience overnight and told Mr Clegg and Mr Miliband in a ‘tense’ joint phone call yesterday morning that he saw no point in continuing cross-party talks.
Sources said Labour had produced ‘demand after demand’ apparently drawn up in close co-operation with the Hacked Off campaign group, which wants a Leveson law, and made clear it was prepared to wreck the Government’s entire legislative programme if it did not get its way.
Who/What is The “Hacked Off” campaign.FROM THE MEDIA STANDARDS TRUST WEB SITE:http://mediastandardstrust.org/mst-news ... e-hacking/Quote:
The campaign is being organised by the Media Standards Trust, Brian Cathcart, and with the help of other concerned individuals.

The Media Standards Trust is an independent registered charity which fosters high standards in the news media on behalf of the public and public interest. It does this through a combination of research, debate and key initiatives.
Chaired by Sir David Bell (former Chair of the Financial Times), the Trust is governed by a board of trustees Board members include: Deputy Chair Julia Middleton (CEO, Common Purpose); Sir Cyril Chantler (Chairman, King’s Fund); Sir Robert Worcester (Founder, MORI); Robert Peston (Business Editor, BBC); William Davies (Saïd Business School, University of Oxford); Roger Graef (Films of Record); Baroness Helena Kennedy QC; The Right Reverend Stephen Platten (Bishop of Wakefield); Geraint Talfan Davies (Chair, Institute of Welsh Affairs); Anthony Salz (Executive Vice Chairman, Rothschild); Sue Stapely (solicitor, Quiller Consultants/Sue Stapely Consulting); Amelia Fawcett (Chairman, Pensions First; Chair, Guardian Media Group); Albert Scardino (journalist, editor); Sir Philip Otton (retired judge); Mary-Ellen Barker (Thomson Reuters); Charles Manby (Goldman Sachs).
The MST is funded by charitable donations from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and the Nuffield Foundation.
The above correctly identifies Julia Middleton as CEO of Common Purpose, but fails to identify Sir David Bell's links with Common Purpose. Here
http://www.levesoninquiry.org.uk/people ... avid-bell/The Levenson Inquiry web site rightly identifies Sir David Bell as Chairman of Common Purpose:Quote:
Sir David Bell is a non-executive director of the Economist. He retired as a director of Pearson plc and Chairman of the Financial Times at the end of 2009 after 13 years on the Board.
David joined the FT from the Oxford Mail ending up as Managing Editor. After moving to the business side of the paper he was appointed Chief Executive in 1993 and became Chairman in 1996. In July 1998 he was also appointed Pearson’s Director for People with responsibility for the recruitment, motivation, development and reward of employees across the Pearson Group and in June 2003 he became Chairman of Pearson Inc in New York.
He resigned as chair of the Media Standards Trust on being appointed an assessor for the Leveson Inquiry. He remains Chairman of Sadler’s Wells, Chair of Council at Roehampton University, Chairman of Crisis, Chairman of Common Purpose, Chairman of the Transformation Trust and Chair of The Institute of War & Peace Reporting Europe. He is also a member of the International Youth Foundation Board, a member of Plan UK’s Board, a trustee of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, the not for profit Bureau for Investigative Journalism, and the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation (CSFI) and a member of the Honorary Council of the Royal National Theatre.
The above quote from the Levenson Inquiry web site rightly shows that Sir David Bell resigned his post as Chairman of The Media Standards Trust when appointed to the Levenson Inquiry. It also rightly shows that Julia Middleton is CEO of Common Purpose. What the above does not show is the clear links between The Media Standards Trust and Common Purpose, links that bring together Julia Middleton AND Sir David Bell.
Julia Middleton and Sir David Bell both have links to The Media Standards Trust:

So from today's Daily Mail we can now positively link Ed Miliband and Labour, Nick Clegg and Lib Dems, Sir David Bell & Julia Middleton (of Common Purpose), The Levenson Inquiry, The Media Standards Trust, Common Purpose, Hacked Off, AND the aim to gag the press through legislation.
