VIROL......a malt extract.
If I remember correctly, it was thick and gooy like peanut butter. Eaten from a spoon full each day. I believe it was given out by the clinic, along with a bottle of orange juice.
Do I have that correct?

VIROL was a thick brown malty paste like molasses. Mum made me and little sis have spoonful often, tasted good, when ever I have a cheap Bourbon and Coke it reminds me of it.

I used to work in a building on that site next to the station. I worked for Wilson & Wylie as a shorthand typist

Hello, I see that you posted a picture of the Hayes railway station. Can i ask do you know anything about the railway station from 1940s?? I am trying to find out whether the railway has any record or keeps any information on an abandoned baby boy left on 21 april 1943. I am just about to post a new message in case it jogs anyones memory but i thought you may have an interest in the station? Many thanks. Tracey

During air raids my mum and her friend Ruby used to wheel their prams and shelter in the walkway under the road.
...and you can just see our house in Western View.
:D
