So thats Jessops, HMV and Blockbuster all gone in the space of a week. Tumbling like dominoes, and the outlook for the High Street is looking very bleak indeed.

Blockbuster when down in Canada and the USA about two years ago.
Smiths was also mentioned a couple of posts back, didn't thay go through some rough times about 10 years ago? I seem to remember a lot of smiths stores being shut down.

Blockbuster's demise is bad news for Hillingdon too as their Head Office is in Harefield Place - a beautiful building and a former Hospital off of The Drive Ickenham. Not as if that is any consolation if you are about to lose your job

I picked a bad time to go job hunting on the South Coast. All 3 stores are now boarded up here in Hastings. :(

Waterstones are to close selected shops as they trim down.

How long before online betting closes some of those ?

It's terrible when you look at Hayes town ! Most of the shops are Pawn brokers, Pound stores or Bookies -- with the random Chicken shop thrown inbetween :(

... and a line of 'cash and carry' fruit shops. I can't see how they all make a living
