This video:
http://www.ukcolumn.org/video/uk-column ... nuary-2013

Contains a very interesting revelation on Lin Homer and her Common Purpose involvement from a failing CEO of Birmingham local authority to the UK Boarder Agency, Ministry of Transport, and now HMRC. This section of the video runs from 31 minutes into the video all the way through to the end.

Mate of a mate I was walking back from Twickenham (England game) with one afternoon (a solicitor) for the public sector told me he had done a CP course. He was quite astounded when I told him what it was all about and the controversy behind it, so much so he scoffed at the idea.

Some weeks later we met again and he had obviously done some research via google and over a few beers in the Admiral Nelson he let slip that after reading up he could see how it creates 'the old boys' networks that senior managers in both public and private sectors move in. Pretty much admitted if you want to get into any sort of role close to policy driving you need to have done this course and 'be able to network'.

Perfect example would be Exec Council Leaders. Often 'let go' or resigned usually with a huge payout for inefficiency's or other only to pop up a few Months later at another Council a few dozen miles down the road. These are of course the ones we know about as they get reported due to the £100,000+ salaries they are on. I am sure many of you here can relate to these stories.

Tip of the iceburg and of course it occurs right through all levels.

This page provides a brief explanation of Common Purpose:

This next page contains a searchable database of CP graduates. I suspect this database hasn't been kept up to date. But it does give a good idea of how far the tentacles of CP reach, and the types of organisations that send people on CP courses:

Enter 'BBC' into the organisation field. The BBC has sent a number of people on CP coarses.

try entering 'police' into the organisation field, the numbers are even greater. Enter 'council' into the organisation field and the numbers become mind-blowing.
