Have been watching this for a couple of days.

Despite all the bloody windmills we have round the Country (and there are many tens of thousands now) wind power never goes over about 2.5% of total output against demand.

CCGT is power generated by gas.......

1) Where is all the gas coming from, and at what cost ?

2) Why have we given the nuclear contract to the French for them to make all the profit ?

3) We have excess coal available and the technology to burn it cleanly but Brussels seem to frown on that idea.

UKIP anyone ? :)

Gazoods it must be windy somewhere in the UK this morning... If my calc is right wind power right now is providing almost 10% of our energy demand..

Clearly the answer is nuclear... Technology has come on leaps and bounds since Sizewell and Windscale days...

If it wern't for the interfering minority in the Government they would have committed the funds by now.

Mind you having said that I was reading about a plan where they could build a damn across the Solway Firth (and other suitable sites in the UK) and generate power by allowing the tide coming in and going out by getting it to pass over turbines similar to hydro.

Given the potential benefits this sort of plan is worth investigation....
