I see ASDA have successfully overturned the planning permission refusal at Fairey corner.

I couldn't understand why it was refused anyway. It will be good for the people who live there to have a local supermarket instead of having to drive to Bulls Bridge or the Grapes

It will provide some employment and temper a little the dominance of Tesco in the area.

Pricewise it is better for all the big players to have stores close together as it makes for a better price competitive environment.

Morrisons sales are down, Tesco's are down, Sainsburies are gaining a bit, Aldi sales are through the roof. Asda being Wallmart I don't know. Maybe they don't declare a profit in the UK to escape tax? 8-)

More people are becoming price concious and all you food shoppers know the so called Government published level of inflation bears no resemblance to what is actually happening.

The closure of Warburtons and other bakeries up and down the land are testament that shoppers are shunning the more expensive brans for cheaper alternatives.

Good news as far as Im concerned. Anything that breaks the Tesco stranglehold in that area can only be an improvement. Tesco at Bulls Bridge is the absolute pits.

Hopefully it will have an effect on petrol prices as well, help break the Tesco/Sainsbury cartel
