Moley can you stop it reaching Hayes please ...... I don't like the Wind :-(

:) I'll have a word with the Guv'nor Jane but no promises. The worst of the wind should be concentrated in coastal areas, Hayes may be a bit breezy !!

** EARLY WARNING **

A potent Cold Front/Squall Line is currently making painfully slow progress across the UK from West to East. You can follow its track here :

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/

Ahead of it is a band of heavy showers. The Cold Front is clearly defined behind them, and although it will be a short-lived event expect some heavy rainfall and very gusty winds as it passes through London and The South East later tonight, or in the early hours of this morning. ( 50-60mph ).

There is a slight to moderate risk of the odd rumble of thunder in amongst it.

The forecast of severe gales through The English Channel on Friday has been slightly downgraded on the latest model runs, with the worst of the weather expected to be further south, over France. As always with the weather though, Mother Nature may decide otherwise.

The Cold Front/Squall line is currently just to the west of London, out in Berkshire. Nothing much to get excited about.

Thanks for the reports Kremm and Jane, they confirm what Ive been reading elsewhere. The Cold Front had a bit of a sting in its tail as it crawled across The South East overnight.

Its noticably colder tonight, so a frost is likely in rural areas of the region. The pattern looks set for it to remain unsettled and rather on the chilly side right through the weekend, with maximum temperatures about 8-9c ( 46-48f ).

I'll be looking at the longer term outlook in the next few days, but for now have a good weekend. Thanks for reading and posting.

I hope it really rains hard over the weekend (late afternoon onwards) - just to stop those awful fireworks !!
