I went to Aldi for a change earlier on today. I bought three items and didn't have to queue. I was impressed by some of the prices but hate the usual long queues.

I rarely go supermarket shopping - when I was on crutches after my foot operation I got into the habit of getting my shopping delivered. Online shopping is so lovely and easy ........... I still do it.

I wonder why the local residents have not been contacted by the council with regards to this. Or is that a daft question.

If the Government has decided that shops can open for longer hours this summer then the council hasn't got a say in it, surely?

That depends on the Law as it stands, as we can see this Government dont care about us mere tax payers. What is the point of having laws in this country for them to be changed on a whim. So the olympics are here, I do not see that as a valid reason to change the laws that were put in place to protect the normal people of this land.

Will they next change the speed limit so Olympians can drive at 120 miles to get to a venue, where does it stop.

Rant over

I went for an early walk yesterday and noticed Tesco was open at 8:00am on a Sunday until 9:00pm that evening. The place was almost deserted early on so on another walk in the early evening, again it looked deserted. I wonder how must it will cost them in operating costs vs profit and footfall! I am sure Tesco will announce to the Council that is has been a great success and want to keep the Olympic Open Times......and then want 24hr opening.
