we must be the laughing stock of the planet, we give it away cos we have so much, in fact we borrow more so we can give it away, then when we cant borrow, we con the investors and punish the prudent via the banks, who when they run out of readies just print some more, to give a retrepective idea how deep we have got into the poo pit, is I left school at 14 my first job was at the kandya (long gone) at sixpence farthing an hour for a 48 hour week 1 pound 25p folk get twice that and upward for one hour at the grindstone, governments have conned us rotten over the years, these are folk on 60k plus that try and convince me the old age pension is generous, MPs I doubt very much have ever been outside their cosy lifestyle into the real world. :? :?

This is nothing more than a re capitalisation of the insolvent UK banks, who are dangerously exposed to the H-bomb that's about to go off in the Euro-zone. It is LTRO UK style! Sure on paper assets such as shares and property will be held up or even go up (temporarily), but we'll be deeper in debt in the process.

Borrowing to fund a deficit is madness as Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain and soon Italy and France (yes France is on this list and will get the same treatment sooner or later) have found out.

Balls was on the box Just when you thInk things can't get any worse, That blethering idiot Ed Balls opens his mouth. :x

Very little of this money the BOE is promising will ever get out to the economy! The Banks already have the last lot that was 'printed up' and have done nothing with that except pour it into speculative commodity investment..

In any event where are the credit-worthy borrowers going to appear from, in this new era of responsible lending? If they relax the lending criteria then many of the loans will go bad (see Spain) and we all end up in the same sort of trouble.

Cannot be long until downgrades come, just because we can print money to satisfy our investment holders means nothing if they are being paid in toilet paper, otherwise Zimbabwe would have a triple A rating.

Some pundits are saying this is a pre-emptive move to shore up Liquidity in Santander UK.......For when Spain goes pop!!

Whatever happened to the original principal of this being a 'Common Market' .....??

It was supposed to be about free trade, but has spiralled out of control and the politicians don't seem to have a clue how to deal with it.

It beggars belief that countries are now borrowing money they don't have to lend to countries who don't have a hope in hell of repaying it. What started as a recession is now rapidly descending into a depression and Europe is once again at the heart of it. I truly fear for the future.

they did say once on one of our devaluations. this will not affect the pound in your pocket, Harrold Wilson promised me that, but the shops wont play ball, they are the ones to blame, I remember when a Grand was a lot of money, and life savings will one day allow us to fill up the car. :( :(

because Harold Wison head honcho said it would not affect the pound in my pocket when he devalued the pound, and politicians are right honorable people, so it must be the retailers, because thats where I spend it, and it just buys less and less.
