No, the Merlin is a Rolls Royce one from a Spitfire.
We still have 4 of them fitted on the Lanc.
Have also tendered for a Bell UH-1 Iroquois for a Viet Nam display.
Have a lot of fun with the Robinson mock-up holding the remote control behind my back and getting the kids to operate the switches.
The Cheetah IX on the truck is a cutaway, the working one has it's own trailer.
:D

I love watching old planes. I remember travelling down to the coast on the bike and watching an old bi-plane and a couple of other planes heading the same way. We didn't know there was an air show that day and parked up in a little seaside town for coffee and sat and watched the show from there - it was fantastic.

It's on every year and I'd never heard of Shoreham before.

Welcome to the best aviation museum in the southern hemisphere.

Sunshine, sounds like you had a good time. I love watching old planes fly too. Where I live I get to see the spitfire, lancaster, hurricane and Dakota of the BBMF a few times a year when they do flypasts at Bletchley Park.
Shoreham is quite a well known airfield, it's quite busy with light planes. The airshows there are meant to be good but i've never been to one of theirs.
Last year I flew in to duxford (not on an airshow day) when departing to come back home we took off after a spitfire.

Brian, haha that looks good! Ashame that nothing flies though ;) You need something like the Shuttleworth collection.

Except for the Mark 2 Lanc. it was fitted with Bristol Hercules radials, conversely the Mk. 2 Halifax had Merlins.

:D ;)

PA-474 has Merlins and was built in May 1945, the same date as ours.
