I have just seen one of the most depressing weather stats I can recall seeing in a long, long time. Heathrow has recorded a total of 8.6 hours of sunshine from May 1st - May 7th.

That figure is pretty indicative of the endless grey muck that seems to have been shrouding much of London and the South East like a dull grey blanket since the month began.

Moley :(

I just have to throw this link in. Some beautiful time lapse video of a gathering storm near Dublin on May 7th 2012.

Lo and behold. This evening the clouds have parted, the sun is shining and the temperature has responded nicely. Northolt was 13.1c at noon, but has been rising ever since to reach a respectable 17.8c at 6pm. Don't you just love these warm sunny evenings ?!

8-) I make no apologies for posting yet another video capture of the Oxfordshire 'Supercell' of Monday, May 7th 2012. I don't know who filmed it but my word, he/she did a superb job so full credit for that :

I would say this is probably one of the best videos of a full blown rotating storm in the UK I have seen. A rare event indeed !!

Please excuse my enthusiasm. I've had some very good news this week and I'll share it with you in 'Light Chat'.

No, the link is fine, I was testing the inbuilt facility to embed a YouTube vid (or not as the case may be).

Moving swiftly back to the weather.......................being as its rained almost every day in May so far, have we reached the average May rainfall in the south east yet ?

Judging by the roads this morning we had quite a downpour last night, especially out in Surrey, big puddles everywhere.

Ah I see. Geezer466 did post something about how to embed You Tube videos somewhere, but Im a tecnophobe and gave up at the first hurdle.

As for rainfall this month ( and last ), Im beginning to seriously doubt the accurracy of my weather station, though there was a brief time when it was down due to flat batteries. So far this month its telling me its only rained on 3 days.......highly suspect, and that Ive only had 34.2mm of rain so far this month. Thats not including today mind, so theres another 15.6mm to add to that. 49.8mm would put us at a fraction under 2" in the first 10 days of May, so already at or about the average for the whole month.

While the weekend is still showing a brief respite, it will be short lived and the rest of May shows little if any signs of an improvement.

As mentioned in another thread the hillingdon area is looking good for the weekend according to my ipod app.

How accurate do you think this is?
