Are Breibart saying what many people now believe to be the case?

http://www.breitbart.com/national-secur ... offensive/
Quote:
By any sane rationale, the most urgent task facing a responsible British government today should be to take radical measures to reverse the relentless decline in the scale of our armed forces after the devastation wrought by successive defence reviews in the past two decades.
Instead, a report by the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) has suggested defence spending could be cut by a further 10 per cent during the next parliament. In practical terms that would mean the Regular Army, currently being reduced from 102,000 to a desperately inadequate 82,000, would lose a further 40 per cent of manpower and would amount to around 50,000. That would represent the British Army’s lowest strength in almost 250 years....

...The striking phenomenon of the past two decades has been that, as Britain has stripped away its military capability, it has engaged in ever more conflicts.

And all the while UK defences are being cut Cameron continues to rattle his sabre at Putin http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news ... ns-5202113

The Prime Minister vowed the West would be “staunch” in its response to Russian aggression and was prepared to maintain pressure on Moscow “for the long term”

It seems one of the best militaries the world has ever known is being liquidated, presumably to make us dependent on some kind of supra-national force.

Osbourne was quizzed on this on Sunday and as usual gave answers to questions that hadn't been asked. Skirted round the 2% question every time.

Andrew Marr did a mini Paxman and said a sort of "that'll be a no then" to which Osbourne didn't seem to care.

I agree, there are plans in place to replace an independent British defence with an as yet fully unidentified supra-national agreement. The two announcements below from gov.uk positively indicate there is some kind of a process under way, a process, similar to our EU membership, that has NOT been put before the British electorate:

2nd November 2010:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-f ... nounced--2
Quote:
A new programme of defence co-operation between the UK and France has been announced by British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy today, Tuesday 2 November 2010.

31st January 2014:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-a ... -operation
Quote:
The UK and France have agreed to strengthen defence co-operation following a summit at RAF Brize Norton today.

The above announcements from Cameron's government are backed up by reports in the press.

And here:

The Franco-British Council (Defence) site provides links to some interesting material:
http://www.francobritishdefence.org/def ... ations.php

A reading between the lines of the two examples below suggest that that the cutting of British defence forces is taking rapid effect ahead of any final and reliable agreement of any supra-national defence agreement to replace the politically castrated British military:

Document 1:
http://www.francobritishdefence.org/dat ... 8_2014.pdf
Quote:
And it is clear that the general elections in the UK and the implementation of the next Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) will give rise to a particularly difficult context in so far as concerns the preparation of the Brussels discussions in June 2015, in particular with regard to defence industrial perspectives.
As this quote reveals, British national defence plans could prove to be a political embarrassment in the run-up to May.

Document 2:
http://www.francobritishdefence.org/dat ... -FINAL.pdf
This document also raises many questions of uncertainty over our national defence.

As for relying on the French, who have twice catastrophically failed to defend themselves in modern times, seems to me to be the height of irresponsibility by British politicians.

The two militaries will complement each other. We'll do the advancing while the French can do the retreats.
