And it took until 2012 for Bomber Command to be recognised, and then only with a clasp, not a medal.
As for Churchill's famous "The Few" speech, note the reference to "our bomber squadrons"

... "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few. All hearts go out to the fighter pilots, whose brilliant actions we see with our own eyes day after day; but we must never forget that all the time, night after night, month after month, our bomber squadrons travel far into Germany, find their targets in the darkness by the highest navigational skill, aim their attacks, often under the heaviest fire, often with serious loss, with deliberate careful discrimination, and inflict shattering blows upon the whole of the technical and war-making structure of the Nazi power...."

A close, respected, and now a frail old friend of mine was a member of the first British troops to enter Belsen death camp in 1945. To this day he maintains that none of the news reports of what was found in Belsen come anywhere near close to describing the horrors they found there. He claims the smell of the place was overwhelming long before they could see the camp.

If there is any apologising to do, then the Germans should still be begging for forgiveness and offering profuse apologies to the whole world, not being given apologies by people whose memories probably don't stretch anywhere near to going that far back in time.

Belsen:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergen-Be ... ation_camp
Quote:
The camp was liberated on April 15, 1945, by the British 11th Armoured Division.[5] The soldiers discovered approximately 60,000 prisoners inside, most of them half-starved and seriously ill,[4] and another 13,000 corpses lying around the camp unburied.[5] The horrors of the camp, documented on film and in pictures, made the name "Belsen" emblematic of Nazi crimes in general for public opinion in many countries in the immediate post-1945 period. Today, there is a memorial with an exhibition hall at the site.

Yes I do believe there could be a inherent gene, just watching all those thousands of german people worshiping that maniac hitler, followers, soldiers and inhabitants there must be something wrong with their thinking. The country should be sliced up and pieces given to surrounding countries making it and the language go away entirely, in a few hundred years they might get their thinking straight.

I think that approach has been tried already in other places, working pretty well out in the middle east at the moment...

How far back does one have to go now to say sorry.
Has Italy said is sorry for what the Romans did to Europe & Middle East, mass human transportation for a life of slavery.
Norway not said anything about the Vikings for Rape & Pillage
As for France & those Normans & what they did to England.

That is very close a description of what the EU is doing to Britain, right across Europe and North Africa today. The same policy, but using slightly different methods. The EU uses the stick, threat of bombs from the sky as the encouragement for people to move, and the attraction of social benefits in Britain as the carrot for mass movements of peoples in order to inflict economic and social destruction on all concerned. The results are very similar to those of Rome; undemocratic centralised control from a self-appointed elitist class, slavery and poverty for the masses, destruction of member states and nations, and vassal leaders placed over subjugated states.
