If like me, any of you read or post on the TripAdvisor website there is a regular poster there who often offers travel advice on all things travel related. Flights, hotels, restaurants, resorts, mode of travel, you name it he's been there and done it, but never on the cheap or a tight budget. Everything is top of the range.
A few months ago he let slip the fact that his wife is apparently/allegedly a senior executive in a health care/medical charity and that all their trips are paid for by that 'charity'. I have no idea how true that is but I suspect it's not far wrong.
I fully believe you Moley. I personally know a person, who's partner (not even married) 'works' for a charity, and the two of them travel the globe together, all luxury expenses paid by the 'charity'. They recently made a three week tour of the Far East – the kind of trip that would probably have cost any normal tourist several tens of thousands of pounds. They are currently preparing for a tour of Europe together on behalf of the 'charity'.
What angers me more than the 'charity' paid-for trips, is the fact that one of the 'partners' has children by a previous marriage, and absolutely refuses to properly fund the cost of raising his/her own children; the person concerned is on a 6 figure income, and could probably afford to properly fund his/her own children out of the small change (now the taxpayer picks up a large slice of the tab). So much for so-called humanity inspired compassion and charity.
