Brian Connolly, member of The Sweet, lived in Carlton Avenue (the Shepiston Lane end). A lad from the school where I worked near there used to take Brian Connolly's dog out for walks. He came from the Croyde Avenue area.

Fascinating. There was a kid in my class at Grange Park who said he was related to someone in The Sweet. The kid's name was Michael Connolly!

I went to school in W7 Hanwell.

Part of my route home took me past Hanwell community centre at the top of cuckoo lane. (Was originally a school Charlie Chaplin went to). Anyway they had a band rehearsing room on the ground floor and I often saw/listened to them when they were practising. They used to allow us kids in to sit alongside the opposite wall. It was around 1972/3/4 era and they were already big news. I can distinctly remember them mixing Ballroom Blitz and Teenage Rampage in this room before they released them as a sinlges. Priest was the Hayes boy if memory recalls.

QPR also used to use the indoor 5 a side pitch in there in bad weather, as the school did. The likes of Frank McClintock, Stan Bowles and Phil Parkes turning up while we were finishing up turned more shoolboys heads than Sweet did!!
