Do you REALLY think that our "enemies" cannot/will not discover these "secret" locations for themselves - it's all a game of cat & mouse.

Firstly yes, I do believe some secret sites are being hidden from foreign adversaries. However, I agree that the larger more complex sites where large amounts of construction and technical works are needed are less likely to remain secret.

However, while the highly resourced Chinese and Russians may know this stuff, the local Muslim angry brigade doesn't necessarily have the same information, neither does your mentally ill paranoid who believes everyone is listening to them. It's these local individuals (in the UK or abroad) that could cause problems if the Snowdens of the world are seen as heroes for leaking this non-controversial info

Don't we have too many secrets? Our government treats us as kids and keep from us all sorts of information that we should have.

You may be right - its your opinion - that Heath, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Clegg, Milliband, and Cameron are all traitors. I cant argue with that. But that does not take away from what Snowden has done.

You will see in my post on the 18th August, I say that all will be revealed when more is made public. Well since then, the news has broken that he has leaked the presence of a joint UK/UK (& others) surveillance base in the middle east. This base is not yet fully up and running but will be used to monitor comms traffic from this politically volatile area - an area where many would-be terrorist intent on causing us - the UK- harm are inspired, based or undergoing training.

Those who support Snowden say he is a man of principle. He wanted to reveal the US prism project and in particular, how the US was stepping over the line legally. Again, that might be a view many subscribe to, but this admirable personal quality does not excuse leaking the location of secret sites which are there at huge expense to protect the west from harm.

IMHO, helping the enemy is one part of the definition of a traitor. Opening up these areas to AQ and their mad pals - our enemy - therefore must qualify him as a traitor

There are more such revelations of the location of secret sites in the pipeline. This cannot be good news for any of us.
The whole sphere of UK politics has been thoroughly discredited over many decades by the political class themselves. We, the electorate, have been so routinely lied to and systematically deceived that few of the electorate now even believe we live in a democracy any more. Our birthright freedoms have been systematically denied us by those who claim to protect us.

Snowden may, or may not, be a man of principle; but it is way beyond doubt that those who rule over us, and control us, have cold-bloodedly and quite deliberately forfeited any sense of what ordinary folk would recognise as principles, or the moral high-ground.

To claim that Snowden has increased the risk of terrorist attacks on the UK and its people when the political elite have done everything within their power to ensure that 'terrorism' and the associated death-rate thrives, is close to risible. The number of deaths, mutilated bodies, and untold misery resulting from the UK's military actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya are probably beyond measure. The enthusiasm with which Cameron and his team greeted the over-throw of President Mubarak of Egypt, all in the cause of democracy, soon turned into a nightmare of bloodshed for many Egyptians. The military action initiated by Cameron against Gaddafi of Libya hasn't exactly resulted in a peaceful democracy in Libya. Cameron's latest plan to launch UK military action against Assad of Syria was backed up by all the usual lack of concrete evidence to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that Assad is a war criminal - is yet another example of the insatiable blood-lust that the political elite enjoy.

The whole of the anti-CO2 agenda is one enormous example of the deceit and lies that the political elite routinely propagate in order to inflict unjustified misery, pain, and even death on their own electorate. The refusal of the political elite to bring to justice those who are ultimately responsible (Sir David Nicholson) for the illegal killing of NHS patients is another case of deceit and treachery against the British people by their own government.

Well said Westonman and a clear example of why British Politicians cannot be trusted.

It was the lies and deceit over the reasons of invading Iraq and a dodgy war dossier which led to the defeat of the Governments motion on Thursday evening. Clearly if the executive didn't think they could carry Parliament then they wouldn't have asked them so a huge misjudgement has taken place.

But the precedent has been set and that must be a good thing. Without a direct attack on Britain or British interests anywhere in the World any future PM's will have to consult and observe the will of Parliament.

It is no accident that Obama by sending a debate to Congress is looking for an honourable exit strategy from his so called red line policy. In other news the cheese eaters have scurried back under that stone they emerged from when they thought they had to go it alone.

Those who were in favour of intervention want us to fight against a bunch that hate us, for a bunch that hate us?

We, as a nation, are broke. The Armed Forces (despite the strength, professionalism and self-sacrifice of the individuals) are bust. The population is sick of being at war. The Middle East and the Muslims don't want us anywhere near them.

It's not our fight, it's someone else's turn.

The Saudi's have a very capable air force and can probably launch stand off missiles with it. I have not kept up to date on their recent Mil capability but they may also have a destroyer or two with TLAM weapons onboard.

Let the Arab league take the lead on this and sort out their own problems for a change.

I appreciate that this post is not directly about the Snowden story. But the two links below do cast serious shadows over Cameron's and Obama's insistence that Assad is guilty of using chemical weapons, and consequently casts serious doubts over the integrity and trustworthyness of the UK and US political elite.

This report in the Telegraph claims that the Saudis offered the Russians an oil deal if they separated themselves from Assad:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/news ... Syria.html
Quote:
Saudis offer Russia secret oil deal if it drops Syria
The above article was published on Tuesday the 27th August 2013, two full days before the Parliamentary debate on whether or not to initiate military action against Assad of Syria.

This report, compiled with the assistance of Dale Gavlak, a freelance reporter who works for Associated Press and others organisations such as the BBC; claims the rebels were unknowingly supplied with chemical shells by the Saudis, and that the detonation of the chemical weapons last week was an accident that killed their own supporters:
http://www.mintpressnews.com/witnesses- ... ns/168135/
Quote:
However, from numerous interviews with doctors, Ghouta residents, rebel fighters and their families, a different picture emerges. Many believe that certain rebels received chemical weapons via the Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, and were responsible for carrying out the dealing gas attack.
This report from Mint Press News was published on Thursday the 29th August 2013, the very same day that Cameron and his colleagues were attempting to encourage Parliament to launch military action against Assad of Syria. And, ever since the Government lost that Parliamentary debate there have been several reports indicating that Cameron, Osborne, and other UK politicians, still believe that military action against Assad is fully justified.

Osborne said after the Government lost the vote on Thursday evening that we, the British, now have to reassess what our role in the world is.

I suggest to Osborne and his political cronies that we, the British, want to see responsible, honest, and clean politics. We want an end to political lies and deceit. We want the globalist agenda to be scrapped and consigned to the incinerator – along with the whole of the UN's Agenda 21 insanity. We want the UK to be removed from the clutches of the undemocratic EU. We want our freedoms restored. We want the bankers brought to justice. We also want the UK media, including the BBC, to stop acting as political mouthpieces for corrupt politicians and to return to responsible and accurate reporting of real news. And we want the political elite to immediately stop regarding every member of the public as criminals and traitors worthy of being continually spied upon by our own government. Then, perhaps, the actions of people like Snowden will no longer be necessary.

I just want to make clear that I am no naive 'sun reader', and I share a more than healthy cynicism of what UKPLC's leaders try a spin to us. I do belive there are secrets that MUST remain under wraps for the safety of all of us

But sometimes Politicians are accurate. For instance, there are several thousand UK citizens involved in intelligence work across the globe. I firmly believe that a great deal of them are at risk from some of what Snowden has done.

To get the high level of security clearance required to work in these jobs, they have to undertake the most invasive questioning regarding their wider family, finances, health and personal even sex lives. No other employer knows as much about their employee than these agencies. All this info is stored on IT systems, so staff rely on their employers (namely MI5, MI6 and GHCQ) to keep this stuff secure.

Then, particularly those at MI5 & 6 can be involved in and/or have knowledge of secrets that can make them targets, and work in locations that are not disclosed publicly. There are many reasons for this, but most are connected with catching bad people who want to do bad things who would be only too willing to damage this secure network if they knew where it was.

So I say for Gods sake lets ll maintain a balance between political rhetoric and spin, and real matters that must remain a secret to protect the staff and UK public
