I thought I would post this time lapse video of a rare and beautiful display over the skies of northern Scotland earlier this month. Noctilucent clouds followed by Aurora Borealis. Quite stunning.

http://news.sky.com/story/1130446/video ... phenomenon

This week the weather for London and The South East should remain fairly settled and dry with temperatures in the region of 23-24c ( 73-75f ) but as we head into the Bank Holiday weekend there is a lot of uncertainty with Low Pressure nearby by then.

We could be looking at temperatures approaching 30c ( 86f ), then again we could be heading for a spell of thunderstorms and some potential downpours Saturday and into Sunday. I would say the odds are 50/50 at this time.

You should all be clear until the week of the 2nd Sept when I'm off and will be washing it (again)

I wouldn't count on that Kremm, Bank Holiday weekend looks very uncertain at the moment. Beyond that the prospects for early September look quite promising in our neck of the woods.

Currently bucketing down here in Northwood and Thursday is showing the potential for more heavy showers/possible thunderstorms, particularly for the north of our region.

Saturday is causing some concern at the moment, all dependant on what track the Low Pressure system and associated troughs decide to take, but we could be looking at some quite significant rainfall.

I will try and update this nearer the time.

Haha. It shows how little I know. I posted the above on Tuesday and one look outside your window right now will tell you how wrong that prediction was. Fairly settled and dry I said...... it's absolutely chucking it down. :?

Big fail, though in fairness even the experts got this badly wrong. The Low Pressure and troughs are playing havoc with the forecasts at the moment. It's likely to remain that way for the next few days as well.

Sorry. Moley

True enough Kremm. Despite all the so called super computers and satellites tracking and trying to predict the weather, nature does what nature wants and makes mugs of us all.

Moley :!:

Met Office advisories now being posted for Saturday:

Will it rain today ( Saturday ) in London and the South East ?

Well the radar says yes, but overnight a lot of the rainfall showing on the radar has evaporated before it reached the ground, so it really is anyones guess.

Areas to the north and east of London are likely to see the highest rainfall totals today, as an active area of rain spins around and could affect some locations for several hours. Totals approaching 50mm
( 2" ) are quite possible.

Other places in our region are just likely to see occasional spells of rain, with an outside chance of a thunderstorm or two. Overall it's going to be a rather miserable day, but should improve on Sunday and Monday.

Have a good Bank Holiday Weekend, whatever the weather. Moley

I'm off to the New Forest soon - hope it isn't raining there or we won't be out with the kids and they'll drive us mad indoors all day
