first you create a problem by uncontrolled immigration into the Country, then once the natives are settled down, create the need for them to escape into far off green spaces, vacated by those who now call England home, as a senior second class Englishman, rapidly losing faith in this once great land of my birth, no longer feel like calling it home, the pride I felt during the dark days of WW2, has left me with the feeling of why did we bother, in fact it would most likely have been better now, had we lost!

There must be many who think along those lines, I think it shows up the bullsh*t of the US/UK 'special relationship that the new world power, the U.S earmarked Germany to be the economic and industrial powerhouse of Europe.

The U.K sent a delegation to Washington after the war and they were literally made to beg on their knees for post war reconstruction loans, Uncle Sam wasn't going to give it to them.

I think there's a lot of truth in what you say Father Ted. If I remember rightly it was only about 4 or 5 years ago that we finally paid off our 'war debt' to Uncle Sam ? Some special relationship that is. Not sure what it has to do with Heathrow expansion though ?

All Governments want to control the internet, if they had their way completely there would be no internet.

Therefore we no have the lets ban porn debate. Don't get me wrong I don't approve of some of them material posted online but there are filters and all sorts of stuff out there stopping accidental stumbling across it.

Now all of a sudden like it has only just popped up as a problem Cameron wants to control access to porn via computers.

He is suggesting it is a new problem and as such has only just come onto the Governments radar. The reality is they want to begin the control of the information we are allowed to access.

Porn today (which is not really a problem, try searching it out from a browser) then it will be fringe political parties tomorrow like the EDL and Combat 18 and then the more mainstream stuff.

Once they get a bill through it will be a slippery slope till they achieve what it is they are really after. The events in the Middle East and how populations were able to organise through twitter and facebook ect has not gone un-noticed.

They are coming for your freedom of expression next.

After all the GATSO was introduced purely to decrease road deaths and make our roads safer wasn't it..........

Either I have slipped into a parallel universe or this thread has gone way off topic ??

If Im not mistaken the topic title is Heathrow Expansion ? Now I know my memory span is rapidly diminishing in direct correlation to my age, but the last 4 pages have confused me immensely.

It went from Heathrow, to immigration, then emigration ( I can just about see the link there ), to retiring in the countryside, Billy Bragg, USA/UK ' Special relationship, WW2 debt, the EDL and Combat 18, porn on the internet, The Middle East and Gatso's.

I give up trying to keep up. :?

The Boer War also had other significance. The Army Medical Corps discovered that 40–60% of men presenting for service were physically unfit to fight. This was the first time in which the government was forced to take notice of how unhealthy the British population was. This strengthened the call for the liberal reforms of the first decade of the twentieth century.
The U.S. Army uses several case studies from the Boer War to teach ethics in combat.    so now you know?

If they could build a third runway the length of Coldharbour Lane and Station Road, from Uxbridge Road to North Hyde Road, I'm not sure many people would oppose it.

£300+K and a one way ticket to England (i.e York, Exeter or Lincoln) and Usain Bolt would be left standing in my wake !

If John McDonnell's was the only house left in the middle of it all even better
