^^

SOT, good luck with a brolly.....how are your Mary Poppins impersonations coming along ?!

Ex Hurricane Nadine is still spinning around in The Atlantic, not too far from The Azores, and there are signs that she may intensify again. Meanwhile Nadines love child is maturing rapidly and heading our way showing all the signs of being as unpredictable as her parent storm.

This link hopefully shows the development of this storm system as it approaches the UK :

http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html

The latest data available suggests that the South of the country is most at risk, and that heavy rainfall could be the main threat as the system is being fed by a very moist tropical air mass from our south/south west. The satellite images also show colder air moving down from our north west.

Various weather agencies (including the Met Office ) are now issuing weather warnings for heavy rainfall and the possibility of localised flooding over the next few days. Gale force winds could also be a problem, especially along Southern Coastal counties.

In most respects this is just an average Autumn storm ( albeit a bit early in the season ), but I would recommend
keeping at least one eye and ear on local forecasts from Sunday onwards. Or better still, read my updates !!

Thanks as always for reading and posting. Moley 8-)

Slightly better than Dick Van Dyke's attempt as a cockney!!!! :D

Thanks for the updates - I am going to be working on a very exposed site at a fairly high elevation, so it looks like I am in for a miserable time

Not exactly weather related but I would be interested to hear reports from anyone who witnessed this event on Friday September 21st 2012.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19683687

Eye witness accounts have been reported throughout the UK, and there are some very good videos of this out there on the web. First reports suggested it was a meteorite, but evidence is now leaning towards it being a satellite, or space debris returning to earth, burning up as it enters the atmosphere. Did you see it, and if so please post your reports here.

Dick Van Dykes cockney accent was probably the worst thing I have ever seen on film !!

Whereabouts in Northern Ireland will you be working ? I will try and follow developments and update you as they happen. The weather websites I use have a lot of members who post up to date information for their locality, and Im happy to pass that on, presuming you have internet access.

My current thoughts are that this system will affect that region later in the week, but it looks like hanging around for a while over most of the UK

Ex hurricane Nadines offspring has finally reached the UK, and has been officially named as Karin.

The Met Office are issuing more weather alerts, with rainfall being the main concern. Its been tipping it down for several hours here in Northwood, and the latest data is showing an area of torrential rain and thunderstorms crossing the English Channel.

These storms are currently affecting Southern Coastal counties, but are predicted to head further inland this afternoon.

If you are planning any outdoor activities today, or in the next couple of days, please check local forecasts and updates.
