Amongst the poetry I write which is often very deep and hopefully meaningful, I like to write jokes (they are a bit feeble really) and lines which are a 'play on words'. I once wrote a song called I Don't Know Why which received a special mention in a Songwriting Contest I entered. It has always been popular and made people laugh when really there are only a few words I Don't Know Why. I was never able to follow it up with anything like it, but then the weather-related idea came to me to use Whether The Weather. I first posted them on the Weather section and now they are here. My adult son who writes poetry himself thought they were funny, especially the 'hot' line and has suggested they should be on a Limerick site. Limericks are quite hard to write when it comes to the last and 'punch' line. My jokes usually turn out to be 'Groaners' but manage to raise a smile or laugh. The first weather-related poem is Whether the weather is cold Whether the weather is not Whatever the weather Men and women ask whether The weather-forecaster is hot! words copyright Marian Nov2012 The last line using the word 'hot' now has a double meaning since 'hot' and 'fit' have become descriptive words to describe an attractive woman or guy. Being that 'hot' is a weather-related word, I thought the use of the word 'hot' made a double meaning for the punch-line. Well, it was once the sort of thing I wrote and were published in our local press. |

I forget to listen when a certain young man is giving the weather-forecast. He is so smart and I am always admiring the fact he wears cuff-links because they seemed to have become a thing of the past. |

Weather girls, Weather fellas Tell us shades or umbrellas Take your choice, guys, it's indoors or coast! copyright Marian NOVEMBER 2012 Last one for on here about the weather. |
