If you think you are having a bad morning, spare a thought about a rather confused woman who was interviewed by the BBC this morning She had been on the ferry from Newcastle which caught fire off the Yorkshire coast and had to return to the port. During the emergency, almost 1000 passengers were evacuated to an upper floor. A ships firefighting team dealt with the fire, and three helicopters lifted the injured (including some from the firefighting team) to Hospital. The woman was asked by the BBC when she first became aware of this major emergency. She replied "25 minutes ago" . It turns out she slept through the lot and thought the ship was arriving at Amsterdam this morning when in fact it was back in Tyneside. That's one mighty confusing hangover for her then!!!! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/ho ... 28701.html |

I should think it would be very difficult for a fire in a cabin to spread very far assuming they're all made of metal? |

on the other hand boats can only burn down to the waterline. so when the fire goes out, throw a few people overboard and carry on. problem solved. |

You'd think there was plenty of water around to put the fire out. |

The sorry thing about fires on ships, they usually start below the waterline. In the engine room. |
