Those were the days when music-teachers didn't have to achieve quite a few positive bookings to cover the cost of placing an advert for a month in the local papers for new pupils. That could have happened in days gone by but, from my experience, not in recent times. There hasn't been such an interest in learning to play the piano as there used to be or people gain the information they need from the Internet.

Mrs Matthews looks to have been a very nice teacher and and it is good to have an insight into another music-teacher's teaching life regarding her lessons and concerts.

Good news! Dad and I have been going through some of his boxes and files and we've found a programme for Mrs Matthews's concert in 1968. They're in the photo albums....
