| Post subject: | 4G v Freeview |
There has been some debate recently about the new 4G interfering with Freeview. It seems the Gov, in their haste, allocated a 4G frequency without putting some thought into it. Over on another forum I visit is the resident geek, and he has been doing some in depth investigation. His results is that it looks like the Gov have released what is currently Freeview channel 60 for 4G usage. If true this is good for us as our local Freeview channels are between 26 and 32 (from memory). The free filters they are making available to affected viewers is a device to reduce the signal as the 4G signal will apparently overload a TV or PVR tuner !!! They will only be supplying 1 filter per affected household presumably on the basis that each house only has one TV !!! Additional filters are £5 each. In badly affected areas, they will require a more expensive £25 filter that goes up by the aerial amplifier. Muppets springs to mind |
