Does anyone know the reason for the daily power cuts in Harefield ? Or is there anywhere online I can find out ? The electricity has been going off every night for around an hour - my father in law lives there and not only is he elderly but most of those in his street are ... it's awful, pitch black and from what I could see last night it was the whole area of Harefield :( We're going there for Christmas and I wanted to know if it's an ongoing thing .....

Ring Southern Electric, or whoever is the 'provider' not who you pay the bill to.

Plan forward, don't wait till it happens, invest in a couple of torches, or a battery operated hand
held lantern, a camping gas-stove would come in handy at least you could make a cup of tea.
Don't forget the battery's,gas, and matches, it works better to include that .

Do you know how widespread it is Jane. We had a recurring problem were I lived once, it was a dodgy cable just outside my house that kept breaking down throwing some of the houses in our close into darkness, not always the same ones.

It was a huge area Jon .... not just a few houses. My father in law lives by St Marys Road and that whole are was in darkness. I would say it was from around the are of the Horse and Barge pub right up to and including the village itself. Luckily it seems to have been fixed for now ... fingers crossed .....

if it's a large area the lecky company can detect it as it lights up on their control panel. If it a small isolated cut they tend not to know until they're told.

I would imagine they had lots of calls about it .... I don't know if it went as far as the hospital ....
