http://www.telegraph.co.uk/property/propertynews/9624750/Number-of-working-families-on-housing-benefits-doubles-in-three-years.html

Quote:
A new report warns that working families are increasingly depend on state benefits to avoid eviction from their homes due to an unaffordable housing market.
A failure to build enough new homes in recent years has pushed rents and house prices up, and led to an 86 per cent increase in housing benefit claims since 2009 by those in employment, according to a National Housing Federation (NHF) report.
The study said that 10,000 more working families now need housing benefit every month to help pay their rent, with 417,830 more workers claiming them over the last three years.

Rents rise on the basis of too many people chasing too few properties........

Landlords are happy as the taxpayers get to pick up the ever increasing tab....

Where are all these people that need this accommodation that drive up rents coming from? Clue..... I don't think it is the sub continent or Africa!!

So not only are they taking all the jobs so ever increasing numbers of British kids are without jobs those of us that do work and contribute to the exchequer get to pay ever increasing sums thru the nose to house them.

I have never claimed housing benefit in my life why should I have to pay ever increasing taxes (VAT now @ 20%) to house people who thru European treaty are allowed to come and work here increasingly taking the jobs my kids should be doing!!

When will these spineless politicians give us the referendum the Country so badly needs?

I know somebody who met a Danish girl and went out there to live. They had a baby and lived on benefits and the Danish Government chucked him out because they said their little country couldn't afford to have people there who couldn't earn a living.

They both came over here to live (with their baby) and got Housing Benefit straight away. They rented a flat at first and now rent a little house. Neither of them has a job.

We are definitely a soft touch.

We are far too soft, they should first shut the door, then sort out the mess they have created.

The system favours benefit claimants. There have been a few sensible ideas tabled recently though.

Limiting child benefit to a maximum number. That would deter the ones who produce a football team and then spend it down the pub.

I also think all on benefits should be made to do community work 3 or 4 days a week to earn it. There's plenty of work that needs doing out and about.

Slippery slope and all that... Yes the idea has some merits but it could also strengthen the ideas behind this..........

Quote:
The elderly should earn their pensions by doing voluntary work in their communities to avoid being a ‘burden on the state’, a retired mandarin has suggested.

Lord Bichard, formerly head of the Benefits Agency, made the controversial suggestion at a House of Lords discussion on how to meet the costs of Britain’s ageing population.

It is coming the Country is broke, badly broke..........

Look at the latest wheeze they have come up with to save a few quid......Selling off taxpayers assets...
