The quoted remark below in the DM by Dr Tim Morgan is probably the most accurate assessment yet of the UK economy:

Quote:
‘Less bad but still grim,’ was the verdict of Dr Tim Morgan, global head of research at City firm Tullett Prebon. Figures from the Office of National Statistics reveal the slump in household spending in the second quarter of the year has contributed to an overall economic contraction of 0.5 per cent. He added: 'It is by no means obvious that the British economy is going to recover at all.'
I don't think the economy is going to recover, not significantly, and not for any duration that could be considered a recovery.

There are too many factors acting against a UK economic recovery. Such as: the inability of 'experts' to even agree on what the problem is, let alone a solution; Government debt; private debt; greedy and selfish bankers; incompetent political leadership across all three major parties; the cost of EU membership; the politically engineered dependency culture; uncontrolled immigration; insanely high levels of tax; globalist get-rich-quick utilities; the ridiculously expensive anti-CO2 agenda. And last but definitely NOT least, the acute uncertainty in the Middle East that is very likely to develop into a major war some time soon.

Apart from the threat of a major Middle East/Mediterranean zone war, the big factors affecting the UK are a total lack of leadership affecting all levels of British society:
In the political arena, all the way down from Prime Minister to the lowliest local representative, there is a complete inability to recognise and deal with the real issues. In fact, at every level of political involvement it seems that everything and anything is done to make matters far worse - perhaps deliberately so.

On moral issues, the same can be said from the pagan Archbishop of Canterbury - all the way down to the local green religious leaders who believe their role is to save the planet from a mythical threat of what is an essential plant food.

If anything, it appears some kind of destructive insanity has taken control of the UK.

The days of first create a cure, then introduce a problem have long since gone! now there is no shortage of problems, various Governments are faced with problems they know nothing about like climate change, World ecconomy, and redistribution of people over the planet. 8-)

Here's the latest example of the political class seeking to take even money OUT of the economy, by granting local councils more powers to steal money from motorists:

Quote:
Motorists face a new wave of fines for traffic offences under plans to transfer powers from police to local authorities.
I don't believe that the politicos, of all colours, don't understand that their taking money from us in taxation, fines, and charges doesn't reduce economic activity. Therefore it must be assumed that political extraction of money from our pockets is a deliberate act of sabotage of the UK economy. If it isn't deliberate economic sabotage then it must downright economic ignorance, in which case the same politicos are unfit for any public office.

Maybe Canterbury should be taking a leaf out of the Scottish Roman Catholics book?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-19383571

This is exactly the sort of thing the church should be taking a lead on...... I don't have a problem with gay people in fact I know quite a few of them and they have an absolute right to do what they want live together whatever, but legalising marriage?
