http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/cashinhand-work-condemned-as-morally-wrong-by-treasury-minister-7966130.html Quote: The practice of paying workmen “cash in hand” was condemned as “morally wrong” today by a Treasury minister. Yet another disconnect from the General Population is displayed by an out of touch minister..... Of course for an MP this has never been a problem as they need an invoice from such tradesmens work to claim it back on expenses and lets not forget around 90% of them were guilty in one form or another in fiddling those expenses yet less than 1% was actually prosecuted for thieving public money..... They talk about morals...... Bull$hit.. When they use yours and my tax to bail out failed extortionists, fraudsters and liars, fund the Blairs, fill prisons with the undeserving poor, line the pockets of PFI Scamsters and subsidise the global rich AND subsidise the housing scam, you can stick your moral obligation. I paid someone (in cash) last week who is in his 60's, not in good health but can't afford to retire due to crap annuity rates and the QE induced madness of fuel and energy prices. I felt morally obliged to. and would do so again in a heartbeat.. Here is a perfect example of the cosy relationship between politicians and bankers.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/tony-blair/9422096/Tony-Blair-hanging-bankers-wont-help.html Quote: Tony Blair: hanging bankers won't help Public anger over the financial crisis is wrong and must not lead Britain to “hang bankers at the end of the street,” Tony Blair says today. Yesterday we heard a figure of between £25 - £30 Trillion (a trillion is a billion x1000) is sheltered offshore in tax havens.. It's quite obvious where they need to focus their attention but they decide to come after the little guy earning a few quid cash in hand cleaning up someone garden or washing windows ect... Time to declare an offshore wealth tax, of say 10% per year - and no amount of molly quibbling by Tony Blair on behalf of his city chums should be allowed to stop it. |

Mr Gauke has been a Tory MP for seven years. Surely that's more than enough time to understand what the term 'morally corrupt' means and how to spot a morally corrupt person from 400 metres. After all he spends quite a bit of time in a big room in Westminster room with 649 of them |

More Big brother, we pay as once the big boys have stashed away money they will never ever spend, and the available kitty gets less and less, then print more and more worthless paper, that ends up in some offshore bank, we will always run round in ever decreasing circles, until we all disappear up our own assholes |

Yesterday Guido brought you news of Gauke’s past avoidance of stamp duty and his wife’s job at a firm advising tax lawyers, while today the Telegraph and Mail both splash on his claim that paying tradesmen cash in hand is “morally wrong“: “Getting a discount with your plumber by paying cash in hand is something that is a big cost to the Revenue and means others have to pay more in tax. I think it is morally wrong.” Guido can now reveal that Gauke himself worked for a company that specialises in helping the wealthy avoid tax. According to Debretts between 1999 and 2005 – when he became an MP – Gauke was a solicitor at Macfarlanes, a top city law firm with expertise on tax efficiency. They boast on their website: “The tax efficient structuring of employee incentive arrangements is often a key requirement for our clients to achieve their commercial objectives. We have particular expertise in the structuring of tax efficient equity based incentive plans. We are able to develop innovative solutions to the most complex tax issues when necessary.” The man is a grade one plonker..... Did he not think this sort of statement would not come back and bite him in the ar$e? And this from another site... MP David Gauke says it is 'morally wrong' and 'morally repugnant' to avoid paying tax or to pay tradesmen cash in hand we have one of the smallest black economies in the modern world. What does the window cleaner do with the cash? Stick in a secret foreign bank account? He spends it and the cash gets recirculated in the economy and eventually the taxman gets his cut through VAT and income tax David Gauke MP claimed over £450,000 expenses between 2005-2009 David Gauke MP claimed £10,248.32 expenses back from taxpayers to avoid paying the stamp duty and fees involved in the purchase of his home in London David Gauke MP’s wife is a professional support lawyer for a company which boasts of its ability to 'support every tax practitioner on the front line as they deal with the tax collector' That said his paymasters have told him to break out this policy for one reason and one reason only. They need to divert attention from the other big tax story doing the rounds yesterday... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18944097 Quote: A global super-rich elite had at least $21 trillion (£13tn) hidden in secret tax havens by the end of 2010, according to a major study God forbid the radio phone in's and newspaper website comment forums vent the publics view about what the Government should do about that!! In any event even when you pay your bills by direct debit it can still lead to tax avoidance.... http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1704527/Taxman-let-Vodafone-off-6bn-bill.html Vodaphone used a fancy avoidance scheme to get away with paying £6Bn.. |

Its all a matter of perspective, is a man with 10 million any richer than the man with nine million, nine hundred and ninety thousand, nine hundred pounds, but the hundred pounds in my pocket would make me a lot richer, than the guy sleeping in my shed who has nothing. |

For any member of this particular government to raise the issue of morality is really like somebody who lives in a green house and throwing stones. If they aren't careful the whole structure of this dreadful government could disintegrate before their eyes. Paying for goods and services in cash is not a moral issue; as cash is still legal tender. I shall refrain from mentioning the big issue immoral elephant-in-the-room supported by this crazy immoral government; the very issue that pulls the rug from under any moral stance this government might take. However, if Mr Gauke wants to engage his suspect sense of morality, he could do a lot worse than poking his nose into the unaudited EU accounts. He could also ask why his immoral government is quite happy to continue throwing £billions of UK taxpayers money at the undemocratic EU every year. Another major immoral issue for this government is the support it gives to the deceit-based anti-CO2 agenda. The whole agenda is based on a pack of lies, and lying is a moral issue. Added to the lies is another immoral issue, where the poorer members of society are unnecessarily 'green taxed' in order to pass wealth to the rich, whilst threatening the well-being and lives of the poor. A government that has claimed that evil is good, and good is evil, as this government effectively has, it would be well advised to remove the words "moral" and "immoral" from its vocabulary. |

Seems the Minister in question seeks not to pay his staff at all and despite representing the Rickmansworth constituency is handy with his second home expense allowance.. http://davidhencke.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/the-100000-a-year-treasury-minister-too-poor-to-pay-an-intern/ Quote: After a Budget that gave tax cuts for the rich and pay freezes and job losses for the poor, step forward, David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, forced to answer questions on the pasty tax U turn today. He is the man who will oversee the tax cuts in the new finance bill and has overall responsibility for HM Revenue.and Customs. He is also in charge of policing the minimum wage when unscrupulous employers avoid paying staff ( you couldn’t make this up) His big contribution to help Britain moving is to offer one new personal job at his constituency office in Rickmansworth, Herts. There is only one problem. You need to either have rich parents ( who will give you an allowance) or a lot of inherited wealth. There is no pay and you must be Tory inclined( and obviously believe working for free is a good Tory policy) The advert is here. http://bit.ly/AlHBho As a minimum condition you must work for him for nothing for six months if not a year or more and you better have at your own expense, learnt advance computer skills ( doesn’t sound that Mr Gauke is computer savvy). As it says: “Duties will include administration, basic correspondence, diary management, fundraising, campaigning and related tasks. Seems he is not shy about racking up his second homes allowance despite only living a hop skip and a jump from the big house in Westminster.. Quote: Funnily enough his expenses paid by the taypayer for the last financial year come to almost the same £98,680.93 as his salary including some £78,000 on staff ( presumably in Westminster rather than Rickmansworth), another £9000+ on accommodation and £10,000+ on administration. So the poor man only has £200,000 going through his accounts. Then there are his two homes to maintain by Tory standards well below any mansion tax level. But poor man, since this terrible crackdown on Mps expenses he has had to lose such a lot. He did grab £15,000 a year in mortgage interest payments ,a quarterly £687 maintenance charge and car parking fees- all paid from the taxpayer on his Westminster Bridge Road apartment in London which he paid £285,000 in 2007. Mind you he has had a £30,000 rise in his income since the coalition came to power. Incidently none of this latest expenses information is on his personal website – which on this issue doesn’t appear to have been updated since 2009. No doubt this will be done free of charge by his new employee. Another complete and utter waste of oxygen........... |

Your caring sharing Government............... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/consumertips/tax/9426761/HMRC-tells-school-children-Tell-your-teacher-if-a-neighbour-is-evading-tax.html Quote: School children are being encouraged by HM Revenue and Customs to tell their teachers if they know of anyone "in their local area" who is not paying their fair share of tax. Soon they will teaching the school kids to snitch when they see you putting rubbish in the wrong bin... This is the thin edge mark my words.... |

I think you will find that is already going on Geezer466.If any have any doubt that the political system is ranged against we ordinary folk and our personal freedoms, then this latest example of dictatorship should cause even the most naive to wake up and smell the coffee. On the positive side; it must now be clear to the most ardent of Conservative Party supporters that the wrongly named 'Conservatives' are every bit as control freaks as the other two of the big three parties. |

Mmmm Is this the sort of society Britain is breeding in the 21st Century?
