I was at Tesco on Saturday 30th May. A unlicensed big issue seller approached an old man aged in his 80's leaving Tesco and took money from him, she did not give him a magazine. She and her family live in the same street as me, she is most definitely not homeless. The illusion that this magazine helps homelessness, is that an illusion, very few if any of the sellers are homeless and none of the money raised is used to help the homeless. I had been homeless for nearly 10 years and without doubt homelessness and the misery that goes with it is being used as a front to push this business. She and others are approaching people and taking money from them, in this case a vulnerable person with cries of 'big issue please please for my children sir'.This is disgusting.

The Mail on Sunday last week spoke to Big Issue sellers in several British cities. In Glasgow, five of the seven vendors we found were Romanian. The sole British seller claimed that luxury cars arrived at the city’s distribution depot at 6am each Monday to pick up copies. The man, who did not want to be named, said: Large, flash cars, like Mercedes and BMWs, pull up and load up in bulk with the magazines before driving off to have them distributed. What are people driving cars like that doing buying loads of copies of The Big Issue to sell on? There are too many copies for one or two people to sell, so they must have a gang working for them. And they’re doing it because there’s lots of money in it for them. It’s organised crime. People who are clearly wealthy enough to drive cars like that have no business getting involved in selling The Big Issue.

There is a scam going on where Big Issue sellers claim self employment declare 16 hours work (or whatever the minimum is) and become eligible for working tax credit.

Sooner this Government crack down on this abuse the better off we will all be..

If it's Tesco's in Yeading, it's you and that OAP that shouldn't be there, not the Roma scammers.

I'm quite happy with Yeading Tesco as far as supermarkets go. I did go to Sainsbury's at the Grapes once - and walked straight out.

I've used them both quite happily as well as Bulls Bridge Tesco. Lombardy can get manic in the car park though especially at weekends.

I've only ever been to the Hoover one once... many years ago. Was passing by and got sucked in.
