What is it with mayors? I used to think that Livingstone was bad enough, but Johnson seems to be plumbing new depths.

That's insane. I agree with 20 on small residential roads but nowhere else. We already have artificially low speeds on some sections of A roads and it's very difficult observing them and virtually no one does, not even the police.

It's not unique to London, thay are trying to introduce this to many North American city's as well.

If you google it, there are many towns/ citys in the UK, proposing the same thing.

Will buses be exempt ? , mind you , as i drive round the UK , its the buses that cause a lot of jams anyway , ignoring Box junctions etc

It matters alright. 20 MPH limists monitored by digital cameras (which are increasingly going over to being grey in colour); and the ease with which a 20MPH limit can be exceeded with a modern car in a low gear without constantly watching the speedometer will readily result in a flood of £100 fines and loss of driving licences; and the means to earn a living will often go with the driving licence.

Milliband needs to go on the record and irrevocably rule out any coalition with the SNP. So don't vote for him either... In fact SNP aside Balls is a good reason not to vote Labour.
