Not sure if true or not, someone will know I am sure. Are plans in hand to opened up Hayes Town to traffic, heard mention where the bandstand located, it will be a roundabout, to allow traffic flow over again, as it used to do, before becoming a Ghost Town for Charity Shops. Has it something to do with the former Gas Works in Southall being turned into a Refugee Camp, sorry that should have been Sheltered Housing, where that brand new road is going to be being built which strange as it only link will be the passenger terminals at Heathrow. |

Know have been away for a while, but come on its not that bad is it, I have been to many places in the world & around the U.K. & have to say, those on your list are not so bad, maybe one or two are on the verge of becoming as you say s**hole, believe me I would still want to come back & live in the place of my roots than some I have been too. We cannot put the clock back & recall what used to be, its happen, question is why do & what can we do to improve the area. |

Oh yes it is. It contains all the multi-cultural elements that have now caused UB3 (Hayes Town) to be in the top 10 of insurance blackspots. There are a few local Somalian no go areas and the vast majority of normal shops have moved out and shops full of eastern promise have moved in. |

Dad moved us out 1956, thanks Dad, he saw what was coming and he was right, thanks also to Wolf Rubber co, I was 18 at the time, came to the States 1963 never looked back, now very comfortably retired in NW Florida. Took a trip with Google earth recently thru Hayes and Southall did not see one white face, most people dressed in PJ's or bedsheets and funny hats. Used to love playing snooker above Burtons even that seems closed up, Mum called it ther the Devils playground. |

Rexy, Wolf Rubber Co, that a name from the past, when I was a kid most of the work was done think you call it cottage industry, a truck used to come down the road dropping off bags of rubber to the mums in the road, the work they did was pull off the cuttings & bag them, loved it when they had the small rubber rings, they fitted our dinky toys just great. The mums lost the work when Wolfs went overseas for its workforce, word we heard did two shifts, one lot of workers would do days & the others night, meant the beds never got cold. Burtons, might have seen you, we played one in Hayes till moving across the road, think it was Working Mens Club where Iceland is now or it old age creeping up on me. Having spent time where you are located, yes I could be tempted to move, but one think good old England has managed to stop, armed police, I know we have in London & Airport, you do not see them tooled up on the street corners Yet. |
