Post subject:  EU membership: The charade is over

Many of us have been aware for many years where EU membership is headed. But now there can be no doubt, the charade is over. A United State of Europe IS the plan.

Quote:
A campaign for the European Union to become a "United States of Europe" will be the "best weapon against the Eurosceptics", one of Brussels' most senior officials has said.

Viviane Reding, vice president of the European Commission and the longest serving Brussels commissioner, has called for "a true political union" to be put on the agenda for EU elections this spring.

"We need to build a United States of Europe with the Commission as government and two chambers – the European Parliament and a "Senate" of Member States," she said.

Mrs Reding's vision, which is shared by many in the European institutions, would transform the EU into superstate relegating national governments and parliaments to a minor political role equivalent to that played by local councils in Britain.

Under her plan, the commission would have supremacy over governments and MEPs in the European Parliament would supersede the sovereignty of MPs in the House of Commons.

National leaders, meeting as the European Council, would be reduced to consultative, second chamber role similar to the House of Lords.
Nigel Farage, the leader of Ukip, said that Mrs Reding had revealed the true choice for British voters to make at polling stations.
"For people in power in Brussels that is the only choice on offer, no reform just a United States of Europe. On 22 May the British people must ask themselves if they want this and vote accordingly," he said. "I am sure people will say no to this centralist fanaticism."
At least we should all now know where the LibLabCons want to take us.

This revelation will provide the likes of Cameron & Co with some serious problems in the lead up to the May EU and the 2015 general elections; how can they possibly square the circle of a United States of Europe with 'renegotiating powers of sovereignty back to the UK': answer, they can't, the cat is now out of the bag. Any 'promise' of a future referendum on EU membership is out of the question.

What is more important about the recent Lords debate is that some members have a vested financial interest in the EU via the terms of their pension yet are still allowed to speak.

If a borough councillor behaved like that it would be a Standards issue.

That's SO TRUE!!!! It's more than a vested interest. They are banned from speaking against the EU. It's a total affront to democracy.

The unsackable government that our own LibLabCon politicians have foisted upon us through the use of deceit and lies:

So true Jon. If they speak against the EU they're in danger of losing their pensions etc. Total fascism.
