The Crown in Cowley is pretty good. This is on Cowley High St, north of Station Rd (and opposite where Trys builders is/was).

They have a band in sometimes, I have had quite a few really good nights
in there

There's also an independent curry restaurant opened in what was once one of the bars. The food is pretty good, and then through a door into the pub
