Yet they still come back for your vote, how any Brit could ever fall for that again is beyond me, yet now the Tories have a strong anti brit section, I just hope and pray the Electorate will wake up in time at the next general election, and come out and vote, and end this farce of democracy where the policy is carried by 40% of the 40% that bothered to vote, :( :?
how on earth is 36% a forum to elect for 100% of them that can vote, plus the 60% that cant vote be called a democracy???? :o

In a lot of parts of this Country Jim you could pin a Red Rosette on a donkey and it would still get elected. Some people simply don't follow events and vote in the way their fathers did before them.

Democracy itself leads to whatever party promises the most to the electorate getting elected, this is why massive debts are run up and the vast majority of the population do not understand the problems this creates.

In essence we are already seeing one of the major effects of it and why our standard of living is falling. Taxes have to be high to service the debt and raise funds to meet the welfare bills. This denies funds to the wider economy and our high streets and service industries fall on hard time. No accident that we have bumped along the bottom since 2008 and the access to free money dried up. It was the easy access to debt which provided the easy to come by growth.

Run up more debt, simple just increase taxes. There is always growth and expanding the economy to get us out of the hole. Except that globalisation means growth is becoming ever more harder to come by as we now have to compete with all the other up and coming nations.

In addition we have to import ever more immigrants be it via free transfer across the Union or other who at some point are going to become a drain on the system, hence the spiral down.

Of course the politicians all know this but in so much as a turkey will not stick its claw up to vote for Xmas they cannot tell the electorate the truth.

Least we can say we lived in the time of maximum prosperity for the British People. Our children will never have it as good as we did!!

Democracy in the UK no longer has the support of MPs. This article clearly shows the contempt that MPs have for democracy, particularly those on the Left.

Watching our MPs on Tuesday, I felt no longer as though I was in noble Westminster, ‘mother’ to so many other democratic assemblies. I am sorry to say it felt more like being at a third world parliament, the plaything of one of those former Soviet states run by thick-necked  ex-Communist thugs.
In Britain we have long flattered ourselves that we play by the rules. In the Commons on Tuesday, the rules were blatantly broken.
In the 23 years, on and off, I have been reporting Parliament, I have not felt so disgusted by our political class.

Politics now is a career choice with a 5 yearly appraisal process.

None of them no matter what they say are going to damage the chances of them failing a 5 year appraisal.... The other side of the coin is now it is a career we end up with mumpties in charge of huge Government departments and the massive budgets.

Cameron for example worked only in Tory central office before a brief foray into media at Carlton.
Osbourne pretty much the same @ central office except he did a bit of data entry and stacked shelves at Selfridges.
Ed Milliband did a bit of work for Channel 4 before he was fast tracked into politics (as was his brother) courtesy of his name and the work his father did for the movement.
Ed Balls was a journo for a FT for 4 years before being drafted into politics and again fast tracked to the top.
Nick Clegg was employed for a while as a ski instructor and then a lobbyist (technical speak for trying to accrue Govt Money ) for Libya then took a lucrative job in Brussels for the EU.

All this information is available on their wikipedia pages.

My point is this.... How can these people with what is clearly limited experience be expected to lead the country? None has held a proper full time job outside of the Westminster bubble so how can they feel our pain of perhaps not having enough money to turn the heating or or associate themselves with the problems we see every day on the streets including the very topic of this thread. Everyday common worries do not apply to these people they are to detached.

They all come from wealthy backgrounds and to a man attended the best schools and universities but that is an accident of their birth and is certainly not a qualification for high office.

Is it any wonder the Country is in the state it currently is... Thatcher, Wilson, Callahan ect all had jobs for periods of time outside of the bubble and had to live life as we do but that was in the time before politics became a career choice.

Or is it that democracy itself which is flawed?

I keep hearing that the Tories are trying to get UKIP to replace the Lib Dems as a partner. Nigel just laughs it off as he wants nothing to do with them.

I know it's likely a wasted vote but I will likely give Nigel my vote next time round as he does talk some sense and I think he may just be the person to do as he says, unlike this current mob.

I just can't see how anyone can vote Lab or Tory given their recent records !

Well the Lib dems only had not being any of the other two, going for them, and they also, have been rumbled now, its the same with UKIP, its the state that British politics has sunken too since WW2, it has become just a job for the boys, an easy living, better than real work, and disproves the words of Abe Lincoln, that all of the people cant be fooled all of the time, well as close as! The point is how do we escape this giant fiddle? politics clearly dont work, by voting for one set of crooks or another set of crooks, Have them working for a wage and bonus ? maybe, the one thing certain is if now they were paid by results that benefits the country only, and compensate for their failures, maybe they would get it right more often. :o  :( :?

Our problem was under Labour our wealth was measured by what we owe, under Conservatives what we pay back plus the interest, is the measure of our new found poverty, but even worse they borrow to get us out of debt, maybe I have it wrong, and two plus two does equal five. :o ;)
