In my view we need a place like Guantanamo, there are plenty of terrorists out there that are 'known' to the intelligence services but who cannot be brought to trial because to do so would compromise sources etc. In the UK they invoke Human Rights legislation to escape justice so Guantanamo is a useful facility where they should be kept and allowed to rot. Some may say this is extreme but we are in a different world fighting a different and violent no-holds barred war against people who pay no heed to normal civilised behaviour fuelled as they are by religious extremism.
Lots of presumptions and assumptions in that mindset Rich Kid.

The first presumption is to accept that the political class and their agents are truth tellers and actually working in the best interests of all of us. There is a mountain of evidence to prove that the political class and their agents are anything but squeaky clean truth tellers.

The second presumption is to accept that every “terrorist” labelled as such by the political class and their agents are in fact terrorists. Which takes us back to the first presumption; proven liars are untrustworthy.

Third, you refer to Human Rights legislation as a major cause of injustice. Who was it that forced Human Rights legislation on us? It was the political class and their agents.

Who are the people that are responsible for hiding and destroying files of evidence in paedophile cases? Answer; in too many cases for it to be accidental, the political class and their agents have a lot to answer for here.

Which group of people are responsible for handing over British sovereignty to the foreign power of the unelected EU? Which group of people are currently weakening the British military to the point of it becoming totally incapable of defending our homeland? Which group of people have/are overseeing the impoverishment and dictatorial control of all of us through the anti-CO2 Agenda 21 insanity? Which group of people have become addicted to starting wars on the flimsiest of excuses?
Which group of people have totally refused to bring corrupt bankers to justice? Which group of people have/are delaying the publishing of the Chilcott Inquiry?

Secret courts and other heavy-handed measure are currently being used to silence whistle-blowers in the UK. Which group of people are responsibly for this?

So my question is, who are the real terrorists?

But Jon, in the UK we let known 'terrorists' roam freely in our streets and their 'human rights' seem to trump every other consideration! Guantanamo isn't the perfect solution and I'm not arguing that it is...
Which group of people "allow" this? I suggest it isn't "we" - it is they who will not listen to the electorate - the same LibLabCON people who left our national boarders wide open.

I simply cannot believe anyone would want to throw away the legal protection that has been developed over many years and enshrined in law to protect innocent people's freedom. There are plenty of stories in recent history of authorities becoming so emotionally involved after an event, that injustice has followed. Think of the Birmingham pub bombings and the lies that West Mids Police used to convict innocent men, one of whom died when in prison

Then there's Lofti Raissi, a young Algerian living in Colnbrook in 2001. His only crimes were being a Muslim and happening to attend a US flying school that the 9/11 bombers used. The FBI fabricated evidence against this guy as there was no real evidence other than coincidence. He spent 5 months in Belmarsh, not charged with a terrorist crime, but with lying on his pilot licence application where he failed to reveal a knee injury on the medical disclosure part.

As for the levels of paranoia re intelligence authorities, well although I do share an healthy cynicism of what we are told, I really do not believe there are widespread conspiracies against the UK public. The bottom line is, these agencies must operate in secret and its now fashionable to criticize that secrecy as being suspicious.

There is much in the press about MI5 'failings' over Jihadi John. But when you look at the details, did they really cock up? They knew his movements across the UK over several years. They knew his associates across the world, they approached him about becoming an informer, and they knew he was Jihadi John long before we knew via the US leak. So lets look at why they kept their knowledge of him secret. Could it be as they were looking at his families movements, calls and internet traffic? Its obvious that such data would be vital in knowing his movements, especially if he was intending to come back here. Now of course, there's no way he will be e-mailing anyone here no he has been outed.

There's been criticism that they knew about Lee Rigby's killers. Again, they did know and tried to recruit at least one of them. Is that them doing their job??

According to the web, MI5 have 4,000 staff. Lets say its double that as they might not be telling the truth! Consider that only a part of that would be proper counter terrorism spooks and they would work shifts. It could mean that there's only 2,500 surveillance people on duty at any time. Taking into account 2011 ONS statistics of how many Muslims live in the UK, it means each operative would be looking at the movements and communications of 1,115 people, not including illegals, non declared Muslims or supporters and those visiting the UK

OK those figures are entirely speculative, but you can see that resourcing Muslim terrorism surveillance will always mean some will get through the net or there will be insufficient evdence

It's the law that is wrong, not necessarily those who uphold it. I do not think internment is right, but stronger laws would be useful, especially when some get away with crimes for technical/procedural errors such as the wording of a warrant etc.

I would rather live in a democracy that a totalitarian state where I could be locked up with little or no evidence. Surely if you support this method of law, you should move to Syria

Exactly. And torturing people to extract confessions was a method I thought went out of fashion hundreds of years ago.

I think the whole situation is fake. The truth is anyone plotting terrorist outrages can be arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit whatever it was they were plotting. The point is if governments want totalitarian powers it makes sense to engineer a public clamour for them and the evidence suggests that is what is underway.

The methods being used to destroy freedom and democracy are good old Fabian gradualism and Hegelian dialectics. Marx must be partying in his grave..

That is 100% how I see the situation in Britain today.

Which is why I believe in naming those responsible for what is going on. It isn't ”we”, “us” or “they”; it is the LibLabCON puppets, such as Cameron, Miliband, Clegg and their cronies who carry the primary responsibility for doing the bidding of the globalist bankers and corporate puppeteers: money people such as the Rothschilds, George Soros and others who like to remain under cover. Royalty are also working against us and our freedoms; which includes the Queen for treacherously signing away our sovereignty to the EU. The whole of the establishment has become infested with globalist corruption, where the aim is to bring the whole world under the power of one dictatorial one-world government.

I go as far as to say that the whole “war on terror” thing has been artificially created by the powers-that-be. There was no mention of global terrorism until 9/11 when the World Trade Centre towers were brought down. There are so many unanswered questions and obvious lies from governments and media outlets about 9/11 in the USA, and 7/7 in London, lies that should have all of us doubting every word that officialdom says.

The blatant political, official, and establishment lies about the myth of carbon dioxide "poisoning" planet earth also ought to cause us all to automatically disbelieve politicians, governments, officialdom, and the mainstream media.

The “banking crisis”, fiat money, and “austerity” should cause us to distrust bankers, governments, and officialdom. The selling-off of our tax-payer funded national infrastructure assets to globalist corporates, resulting in our impoverishment, should most definitely cause us to demand truthful answers from the political class within the LibLabCON.

The LibLabCON and other party Members of Parliament ought to represent the people and our interests. The truth is, they mainly represent international bankers, globalist money men and corporations whose joint aim is to subjugate all of us into a one-world centralised dictatorship.

Oh no, not this 9/11 conspiracy nonsense rearing its head again.

I agree that we all must maintain a healthy cynicism of all Govt messages, but the idea that 9/11 was anything other than a terrorist operation is fake. Did intelligence agencies know something was brewing? Did they know more than they are saying? Probably. But were the US or UK instrumental in fabricating this act, or even doing this to their own people to promote war? No chance.

There would have been scores or even hundreds of people involved in planning such a covert Govt plan. Do you seriously think that all of them would have gone along with it? Really??? I am sure someone would have broken silence either before or in the 14 years since. If it were true, why didn't that traitor Edward Snowdon mention any of this when he stole those secrets from the NSA? How about Assange's Wikileaks?

Thank God we can have these debates publicly and on line. I suppose that's the point of the war on terror, to maintain this right. But to seriously believe 9/11 was orchestrated by a Govt against its own people is not a healthy cynicism, it demonstrates an unhealthy paranoia

It isn't for me to prove that 9/11 and 7/7 were “inside jobs”. It is up to governments, the security agents and the justice systems to prove beyond all doubt that both occasions were committed by so-called terrorists – and that they have failed to do. There are far to many inaccuracies, contradictory evidences, and plain nonsense that raise huge questions that are never properly answered by the powers-that-be for their version of events to be believed. Unanswered questions that only serve to undermine the integrity of those who govern us.
