the measure of any successful shopping centre is a Marks & Spencer. Uxbridge just creeps in at the lower end, and as such, is the prime feature, says it all, I did hear they were gunna demolish Ayes and build a slum. now that's progress.

M&S ain't what it used to be. I don't buy underwear from them anymore. The elastic lasts about 3 or 4 washes before it stretches and doesn't return (pants round knees) and their socks turn to cardboard in about the same time.

wot short memories people have, Ayes was a bottle neck getting out of North Hyde road or Nestlé's Ave was a task and once you did get over negotiating the High road and bus stops, folk crossing the road, was more delay, the Town is a no win situation.

Yes yes Jim, but there was no bypass then!!

All the bypass does is get you from bottleneck to bottleneck faster, and dumps the waiting traffic into what was an open space, the bypass worked when it was constructed and would accommodate two or three times the amount of traffic passing through, but like all the solutions, is short lived due to the increase of traffic, the explosion in population, and can only get worse as time passes, things will never ever be the same as once was, the transport links will see to that, Two main trunk roads, the A4 and the A40 the gateway from the west, the Airport traffic heading North, all pass through the Borough.
