Some have called for National Service to be restored. The Bill receives its second reading in Parliament this coming Friday 28th February 2014.

Way back in the 70s, I remember listeners to the Jimmy Young show on Radio 2 regularly calling for the reintroduction of National Service (and the birch and capital punishment!)

Oh! dear, wouldn't this infringe on their civil rights?
Short hair, no earrings or body piercings.
A nasty person shouting at them and being made to do things.
The cost of counselling would be exorbitant!

Much cheaper to just thrash the cowards.

I did 5 years in the early 70's and brought me out of my shell.

With all these unruly 16+ stabbings I think it should be brought back, including those immigrants who also qualify. Stop them standing on street corners being pains for a few years.

I suspect that this bill is going to come as a very rude shock to a very large number of people across this land. Could we see a replay of the kind of revolt that we saw against the poll-tax?

Below, the “Scope of the Scheme” includes basic life-skills, that many of us would find it difficult to disagree with. But is it wise that the state should adopt the role of parent/guardian/overseer of all young people?

Quote:
2 Scope of the scheme
(1) Regulations shall provide that the scheme must extend the scope of the National Citizen Service and include the following elements—

(a) educational assistance for those participants who have yet to attain basic educational requirements of reading and writing in English and mathematics;
(b) coaching and instruction to attain basic levels of physical fitness, personal discipline, smart appearance, self respect and respect for others;
(c) instruction in personal financial budgeting, household bills, nutrition, cooking, time keeping, life skills
, tolerance towards others, treating elderly and disabled people with dignity and respect; and
(d) instruction in basic aspects of the law in relation to the most common offences involving young people.

(2) Regulations shall also provide that the scheme shall include—

(a) a residential element, requiring that participants live away from home; and
(b) an element of public service, comprising one or more of the following to be chosen by the individual—
(i) charitable work,
(ii) social action,
(iii) care for the elderly or disabled,
(iv) overseas development activity, or
(v) work connected with the National Health Service, the
emergency services or the Armed Forces.

For decades, the state, under the governance of all three Lib/Lab/Con parties, has deliberately under-mined the role and authority of the traditional family. Parents have had their authority over their own children deliberately challenged by the state. Now, when all that political destruction of parental authority and responsibility has borne fruit – the state steps in wiith the 'cure' as the self-appointed guardian of our children and grandchildren, and quietly reveals its plan to indoctrinate our children with undefined dogma, under the force of law.

Both sections (1) and (2) of the above quote contain a lot that could well be 'double-speak', possibly containing hidden intentions and purposes.

Section (2) of the above quote titled, “Regulations shall provide that the scheme shall include-”, in no way fully limits what the state can or will do to young people under its charge. What is NOT in that list above is what concerns me. For example: What does “work with the Armed Forces” really entail? Are we in effect seeing the back-door conscription for military service in support of a rogue corporatist globalist (Fascist) government?

The UK Government is engaged in “Nudging” us into accepting its own political mind-set. Here is the link to its web-page https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... ights-team
The Unit goes under the name of “Behavioural Insights Team”, and on its first page acknowledges that it is referred to as the “Nudge Unit”. A 'nudge unit' is to 'nudge' our thinking until we accept the 'correct' political mind-set, and become good obedient citizens of our 'elitist superiors'.

Given the inherent deceit and untrustworthiness of the political elite, this National Service scheme could turn out to be the UK's version of the Hitler Youth. And we all should know where that led to in its care of the sick, weak, elderly, and 'socially undesirable'. Be aware of the Liverpool Pathway to death.

The bottom line for me is:
Do we trust the political elite, who have more than proven their greed and untrustworthiness by their close to unanimous abuse of their expenses?
Do we trust the elitists who have underhandedly given the UK away to a foreign power in the guise of the EU - without reference to the British people?
Do we trust a political elite that constantly feeds us the lie that man-released carbon dioxide is responsible for changing the global climate?
Does the 'integrity' of our political class inspire our fullest confidence in them?

If we answer 'NO' to any of the above questions; then why should we trust the same deceivers with our young people? Or put it another way; why should our young people themselves trust the political class – many of whom have some very serious questions to answer regarding paedophilia?

It would not work , its a different society now
Young people don’t follow like sheep what they are told , like they did in the 1950s

And with health and safety regulations ??

lets face it we have degenerated into a State run mollycoddled society, whereby the elite feed us only what they want us to hear, Gutless Spineless individuals sitting in the big house protecting their own interests, drawing oversize salaries and expense accounts. Government by the people, for the people, forget it! Politics has become a dirty word, its winners and losers like its always been, not the biggest and the bestist its them that make the least mistakes following the rules.

Private members bill so about as much chance of passing to Royal Assent of a Snowball lasting on a hot plate.

Particularly as this private member seems to be as far to the right of the Tory party as you can get..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Hollobone

However he stands for 'out of Europe' so he can't be all bad.....

The idea is a good one but sadly it will never be implemented, certainly not as a National Service Bill.

My old man served with national servicemen in the 60's when the whole concept was unpopular and he told me they were more trouble than they were worth - kit was damaged deliberately, uncooperative, morale issues and the G1 (admin) work skyrockets. Some were fine and stayed in after their time, but most were a nightmare and this was in the 1960s before today's crazy political correctness.

However with a couple of changes it could be a good idea and save the feckless from doing bugger all.

If you leave school without further education or a job you must complete 2yrs in the Territorial's with JSA being paid and advice giving for employment or futher education being provided. This way they might catch some of the bright sparks that fell through the net, let down by the State education system.

The system would not cost a hell of a lot as a lot of the infrastructure (training centres) are already in place up and down the land. Plenty of NCO's they are chucking out by the wayside who could be retained to administer it.

They go in say three days a week do half a day Military training (to foster comradeship and teamwork), the other half job search/interview techniques ect or to brush up on English Maths Skills to bring them up to Grade C GCSE (if not already attained), then they can go off home of an evening. Those that shine to the idea are free to join the TA (or army) full time and go onto meet that training commitment and of course the pay which goes with it. If they do their obligation to the scheme lapses.

Those that don't turn up or misbehave create problems will have their JSA stopped and be subject to lower forms of Mil law. (Detain them overnight until they buckle down)

2 years of that and they will do far better in the employment wilderness which is now the UK.

Call it something different such as National Youth Training Projects and remove the compulsion where these youngsters would be forced to serve in a war zone and we could be onto a winner.

On the other hand the lefty Guardianista types have got a petition up to stop it...

http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/u ... ll-2013-14

The answer to this I am sure lies somewhere between the two positions!!

National Training but administered with a Military hand.

War is obsolete as its down to who presses the button first, civil disturbance and man the transport systems during strikes is about the only thing left they are useful for, at least its better than just paying out dole money.
