There's bad news for anyone living in London, Leeds and Bradford, because they dominate the list of places in the UK where you are most likely to be victim of a burglary. The Leeds postcode of LS13 has seen the most break-ins over the last 12 months, followed by BD12 in Bradford, N12 in North London and M30 which is Eccles.

But where else makes the top 10, why are these targets, and what can you do about it?

The figures, from Moneysupermarket.com, revealed that London is the prime spot for burglary - with eight of the top 20 postcodes based in the Capital.

The top three were LS23, made up of Bramley, Gamble Hill, Moorside, Rodley and Swinnow (which had 34.8 insurance claims per 1,000 enquiries), followed by BD12 (Low Moor, Oakenshaw and Wyke) in Bradford with 34.2 and the suburb of North Finchley (N12) in London with 31.9.

The rest of the top 10
M30, Eccles
RM3, Harold Wood, Harold Hill, Noak Hill in Romford
SW12, Balham, Clapham South, Hyde Farm in London
LS18, Horsforth in Leeds
UB3, Hayes, Harlington in Middlesex
SE22, East Dulwich, Peckham Rye, Loughborough Junction, Herne Hill
LS28, Calverley, Farsley, Pudsey, Stanningley.

Isn't it UB3 where the latest 'social housing' is being given out to those from 'Pirate country' ?

The worst thing that ever happened in Hayes, was to become part and parcel of the Lon Bro Hillingdon, we are the pits of the borough, the dumping ground for migrants turning up at Heathrow without papers, the council estates where no three families speak the same language, the open spaces being gobbled up hand over fist, I once thought the bye-pass would enable them to just go past, but the local parties see it as new fodder to brain wash.

I lived in and around UB3 (Austin Road, Skeffington Court, Silverdale Road) until I was 13 and was so glad to move out - The late 70's was the big change in the area where the borders of Southall and Hayes starting to become blurred. The areas mentioned above used to be an open estate which had many alleyways, open underground garages and open access stairways. The estate is now a prison with all access points now requiring access codes / swipes and all openings now have metals gates or fences. Crime was the reason for the new security measures and yet crimes is still high on the estate, so must be coming from within! Not sure if the gates are there to keep residents in or undesirables out!!
